Where did rum balls come from? In Denmark, Romkugler is often prepared for Christmas, the name literally translates as "rum balls". They were prepared by confectioners from yesterday's cookies and biscuits. The leftovers were mixed with butter, sugar, cocoa, jam or condensed milk. Over time, Romkugler got to England, where they became known as Rum Balls. Now, this dessert is also prepared in the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia.
