There is a legend that bretzel was invented by a German baker, who was ordered by the king to bake a roll through which you can see the sun three times. It was at the beginning of the XIV century. The baker coped with the task and received special preferences from the king for this. Since then, this bretzel has been a symbol of German bakers, it is often used on signs, labels and emblems.
The dough for making pretzels is made from wheat flour, salt, water, yeast and malt are added to it. And to give a typical brown color, pretzels are dipped into a sodium alkali solution for a few seconds.
